Public serial lookup

Public Lookup gives buyers a page at /apps/serial-check on your storefront. The page confirms genuine serials, marks voided serials as not valid, and gives a neutral result when a serial is unknown.

Before you enable it

Use serials that are difficult to predict. A sequence-only pattern such as PRODUCT-{SEQ:6} lets someone try nearby numbers. Add a sufficiently long random segment, for example PRODUCT-{SEQ:6}-{RAND:8}.

Serial Trail warns when an active generated pool has no {RAND} token. The warning does not rewrite existing units, and enabling lookup remains your decision.

What buyers can see

A genuine result may show the serial, product, variant, and SKU. It never shows order references, customer information, assignment dates, internal status history, or warranty details.

Enable or disable the page

Open Settings → Public Lookup, review the storefront URL and contact line, then enable the page and save. Shopify may ask you to reconnect the store so the app can register its app proxy.

To add the checker to your storefront menu, open Shopify admin → Online Store → Navigation, choose a menu, add a menu item, and paste the storefront URL shown by Serial Trail. Save the menu, then open the link from your storefront to confirm it works in the active theme.

Disabling the page immediately returns a neutral unavailable state. Lookup events remain available to the 30-day counters and are automatically removed after 90 days.
