What Serial Trail does

Serial Trail gives each physical unit its own serial record and lifecycle history. It helps you answer which unit shipped, with which order, and whether the registry still agrees with fulfillment and stock.

The core workflow

1. Add serials manually, generate them from a pattern, or import a CSV.
2. Organize serials in pools bound to a product or variant.
3. Assign available units when an order is fulfilled, automatically or by scan.
4. Write assigned serials to the platform order for packing slips and notifications.
5. Reconcile units, fulfillment lines, pools, and stock for gaps.

What is tracked

Each unit keeps its serial, product binding, pool, status, order references, timestamps, and append-only lifecycle events. Registrations and warranty claims store only the buyer contact and evidence needed to operate those workflows. A replacement shipping address is passed directly to the commerce platform and is not saved by Serial Trail.
