European Union
GPSR connects safety work to product identification
Regulation (EU) 2023/988 has applied since 13 December 2024. Article 9 requires manufacturers to ensure that products bear a type, batch, serial number, or another identification element, with packaging or accompanying-document alternatives where the product cannot carry it directly.
The correct identifier, economic-operator duties, technical documentation, notification route, and corrective action depend on the product and your role in the supply chain.

CPSC business guidance recommends preparing a recall plan before an incident. Its checklist includes affected product identifiers, inventory isolation, distribution-chain notification, consumer contact information, a public recall page, remedy planning, and monitoring after announcement.
